San Jose Cop Gets DUI On Highway 17

DUIs are no laughing matter, I know, I got one a few years back. Luckily I caused no damage to anyone or any property, just damage to my license and bank account. When I heard about this story i could not believe what had happened. San Jose Officer, Fidel Guerrero was off duty traveling over HWY 17 toward Santa Cruz ( IN THE NORTH BOUND LANE!) early Sunday morning. This guy must have so hammered, he must have been close to a coma. Anyhow, HWY 17 maybe one of the most if not the most dangerous HWY's in California. HWY 17 is a twisty, windy, uphill, downhill HWY about 15ish miles long that crosses the Santa Cruz Coastal Mountains. I have driven the HWY many times, in fact I would say it's the craziest road between my house in Santa Cruz to anywhere in the Lake Tahoe area, even in the winter. After i got my car shipped to me shortly after moving to SC it was totaled when rear-ended near the summit of HWY 17. Back to the cop, he manged to get on the wrong side of the HWY and then collided with oncoming traffic. The drunk cop collided with two vehicles head on, luckily no one was killed. The San Jose Officer is currently on paid leave. Chemical testing on the officers B.A.C. (blood alcohol content) is still pending. Well i guess it goes to show that even the most trusted people in our community even have a laps of judgment sometimes.

The Two Windmills
