As his owner was signing up for an open mic showcase, a limelight-loving mutt climbed behind the wheel of a van and rolled it through the front window of a St. James coffee shop last night, police and the dog owner said. Link

Acting on an anonymous tip, police questioned Meehan about the fires after he was arrested Friday on an unrelated criminal trespass charge. Meehan admitted to starting the fires, but did not explain what he has against bathrooms, Cary Police Det. Susan Ellis said. Link

Aruto Ntel, 25, a senior at Texas Woman’s University, said he was pulled over for speeding about 10 a.m. on Nov. 4 as he was going to vote for the first time. Mr. Ntel was arrested on an outstanding warrant from McKinney for driving without insurance, said Denton police Capt. Lenn Carter. Mr. Ntel said he was taken to the Denton City Jail, where a jail employee — who was later identified by closed-circuit video as Chris Saunier — dangled a key in front of Mr. Ntel’s face. “He told me, ‘if you vote for McCain, I’ll let you out right now,’” Mr. Ntel said. “The officer was laughing, but I didn’t think it was funny.
